A senior Awami League leader has dubbed BNP’s Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman “precocious and a coward” for demanding Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s trial for ‘sedition’.
Hasan Mahmud claims Tarique’s statement on Bangabandhu is a “lie and part of a conspiracy”.

“Fugitive Tarique is trying to make the Liberation War controversial,” the Awami League publication secretary told reporters Friday.
At a programme in London on Thursday, Tarique dubbed Bangabandhu a “Pakistani citizen” and demanded he be charged with sedition.
Tarique, son of BNP founder and Bangladesh’s first military dictator Ziaur Rahman, has been in London since 2008 after securing bail from the High Court.
He is accused in a dozen corruption cases.
Ever since his first public appearance last year after going to London, he had been making controversial claims.
Former minister Mahmud said Tarique was a person of “sick mentality” and added that the process to bring him back was on.
“Fugitive Tarique has been making controversial and false statements to be in the news,” he said.
“We (the ruling party) are responding to his claims so that the people are not confused by his statements,” Mahmud added.
