BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday alleged that the ruling party has become the enemy of people for its misrule.
“The ruling party has turned people’s enemy… So, they’re now trying to hang onto power by indulging in terrorism,” he said in a statement.
The BNP spokesman issued the statement protesting an attack on an agnation programme of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and Krishak Dal at Raushanhat Bazar in Chittagong’s Chandanaish upazila allegedly by the ruling party activists on Monday.
“As part of its plot to subdue the opposition, the illegal and fascist Awami League regime is continuously killing and injuring the opposition leaders and activists,” Fakhrul said.
Mentioning that the attack on the programme of BNP’s associate bodies in Chandanaish is part of the government’s regular misdeeds, the BNP leader warned that the current regime will not be able to stop their democratic movement by resorting to suppression and repression.
“We’re committed to intensifying our ongoing movement together with people deifying all the repressive acts of the government,” he said.
Fakhrul demanded the government arrest and mete out exemplary punishment to those attacked the opposition’s programme.
