Awami League led 14-party leaders on Tuesday urged the Home Minister to take legal action against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and Hefajat-e-Islam AmeerAllama Shah Ahmed Shafi for anarchy and violence.
They alleged that Ahmed Shafi and Khaleda Zia are responsible for the anarchy unleashed on Sunday. Khaleda Zia instigated the violence by telling BNP men to stand beside the Hefajat men.
The ruling alliance leader said this while addressing a press briefing after a meeting of the alliance held at Awami League president Sheikh Hasina’s political office at Dhanmondi in the city with AL presidium member SajedaChowdhury in the chair.
Addressing at the press briefing senior Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed said “BNP want to undermine the genocide of 1971 during the country’s Liberation War by uttering genocide every time. They are also spreading falsehood by terming the Mothijheel incident as mass killing.”
Tofail continued “BNP wouldn’t get rid by spreading falsehood in the country where the mass media is very strong.”
Tofail Ahmed said that Khaleda Zia wanted to destroy the whole capital by calling programmes in line with so called Hefajat.
“BNP wanted to oust the democratic government by taking the streets with Jamaat from May 6 keeping the Hefajat on the street on May 5. But Khaleda Zia’s conspiracy failed for the efficient, brave and timely decision of Sheikh Hasina,” Tofail, also an advisory council member of the AL, said.
Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim said that BNP, Jamaat and Hefajat tried to misguide an elected government for evil motive. But their conspiracies have failed.
Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon said that Khaleda Zia and Ahmed Shafihave to take the responsibility for those who were affected for the rally of Hefajat
He claimed that there was no use of firearms in the Mothijheel rally rather only sound grenade and rubber bullet were used.
