Rokeya university new VC Hasibur as Kalimullah ends his tenure

Professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah has completed his four-year tenure as the vice-chancellor from Begum Rokeya University (BRU), Rangpur.

Md professor Hasibur Rashid, a former management information teacher at Dhaka University, and currently serving as treasurer at BRU, will replace Nazmul.

Chancellor of BRU and president Md Abdul Hamid has appointed Hasibur Rashid as the new vice-chancellor. The appointment will be effective from 14 June.

The appointment letter says the new vice-chancellor, as the chief executive officer of the university, will be staying at the university compound round the clock.

The president appointed professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, a teacher of public administration at Dhaka University, as the BRU vice-chancellor on 1 June 2017.

A group of BRU teachers waged movements protesting against irregularities including long-time absence of Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah at the university compound.

The University Grants Commission formed two probe bodies to investigate irregularities by vice-chancellor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and some other officials of BRU.
