United States deputy assistant secretary for the bureau of population, refugees and migration in Africa and Asia Richard Albright on Sunday said the repatriation of Rohingyas should be safe, dignified and voluntary.
While talking to reporters after visiting Ghumdhum transit camp by the Rohingya camp in Kutupalong, he also said a congenial atmosphere should be created in Rakhine of Myanmar for the Rohingya repatriation.
International human rights organisations and different donor organisations must get unrestricted entry to Rakhine, he said.
Meanwhile, Derrick S Brown, US Agency for International Development mission director in Bangladesh, who was also present there, said the USAID had been working to improve the living standards of both Bangladeshi people and the Rohingyas.
The US team also visited the Konarpara Rohingya camp at Naikkhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
