RNB man killed in Kamalapur Railway Station bomb attack

Bomb-blast

A Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) member was killed in a bomb attack at Kamalapur Railway Station on Sunday afternoon.

Two youths who were carrying the bomb were also injured in the blast.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kashem, 30, an RNB sepoy posted at the railway station and resident of Moksedpur upazila in Gopalganj district.

Officer-in-charge of Kamalapur Government Railway Police Station Abdul Mazid said two youths — Alam, 18, son of late Faizul Karim of Shahjahanpur Railway Colony, and Aminul, 16, a garment worker and son of Alauddin — were entering the railway station through the rail tracks from Khilgaon-level crossing.

Of them, Aminul was carrying a footwear bag of Bata Company.

As the two youths reached beat No 17 of the station, railway security guard Kashem challenged them around 3pm.

Sensing danger, Aminul hurled the bag containing the bomb at the face of Kashem and soon it went off with a big bang, killing the RNB member on the spot and injuring Alam and Aminul themselves.

Later, police recovered the body of Kashem. Alam and Aminul are being treated at the Railway Hospital in police custody.

During primary interrogation, the arrested youths gave confusing information, saying they found the bag in an abandoned condition.

Meanwhile, Railways Minister Mozibul Haque visited the spot shortly after the blast.
