In several previous sessions in the House, she had urged the government to take effective measures to put an end to the menace.
Bringing up the issue on Thursday again, Raushon said, “I’ve been speaking about the issue again and again. Yet no action has been taken.”
“This is the doing of influential people. I want to know who they are. Why can’t you catch them? The prime minister could have put an end to this if she wanted.
“But I don’t know whether she would even want that,” said Raushon Ershad represents the Mymensingh-4 constituency in Parliament.
Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina was present in the House at the time.
Raushon said food adulteration was overshadowing Bangladesh’s rise in many developmental indexes.
“I’ve said in Parliament many times that tannery wastes are being used to make fish and chicken feed. So much food, but they are not safe,” she said.
“If we can’t give our next generations safe food, then how will the prime minister build a Digital Bangladesh?” she asked.
The leader of the opposition also demanded government steps to improve quality of education, create jobs and increase investments.
