Rape of Chakma girl: 6 give confessional statements before court

Six accused, arrested in a case filed over the rape of Chakma girl in Khagrachhari, have confessed to the crime before a court.

The court recorded their statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting police.

Mohammad Rashid, officer-in-charge of Khagrachhari Sadar Police station, said, “The court recorded their statements yesterday.”

The court set Wednesday for hearing a prayer for putting Md Amin on a seven-day remand, the police official said.

Police arrested seven of the nine accused so far in the case and are trying to arrest the rest.

According to police, the main suspect Amin did not confess before the court yesterday.

A group of nine criminals allegedly broke into the victim’s house with sharp weapons, tied up her mother and stepfather, and raped her on early Thursday in Bolpaiye Adam area of Khagrachhari Sadar upazila.
