The dissenting written judgment on condemned prisoner of 1971 war crimes Abdul Quader Mollah of Jamaat-e-Islami by Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah of the Appellate Division was finished on Sunday.
Sources at the apex court said now it has already been submitted to the Chief Justice.
According to the sources, the text of the judgment will be perused by the remaining members of the designated Appellate Bench that pronounced capital punishment to Mollah overturning the trial court life term imprisonment, and then comprehensive final judgment will be officially released.
The whole process will be completed this week, the sources added.
Additional Attorney General MK Rahman said the task of writing the judgment is over and now the full text of the judgment might be released any time.
Allowing the government’s appeal seeking death sentence for him, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on September 17 with a majority decision sentenced lifer Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Mollah to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
On February 5, convicting detained Jamaat leader Mollah on five counts of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, the International Crimes Tribunnal-2 unanimously sentenced him to life term imprisonment.
