The dairy farmers poured milk on Rangpur-Kurrigram road at Satmatha-Mahigonj crossing on the outskirts of Rangpur city on Sunday.
Hundreds milk farmers of the district gathered at Satmatha area on Sunday and held a protest meeting.
District unit milk farm association president, Anowar Hossain Babul, general secretary Meser Ali, members Mazibur Rhaman, Enamul Haque and Asadul Haque addressed the meeting.
They said price of milk has decreased by Tk 6-8 per liter due to on-going strike and blockade. They have to sell milk at Tk 30- Tk 31 incurring huge loss. They have to shut down their business if the situation continues more, the farmers said.
They also noted that fodder and livestock food price have been increased double while milk price has been decreased. Large non-government organization, BRAC and other private run milk processing industry have been buying milk at fewer prices in the local markets.,
There are above one thousands milk farms in the district in which about 60-70 thousands litres of milk was produced.
