‘It’s a pompous arrangement. It will create history!’
That was how a guest at the wedding reception of Railway Minister Md Mazibul Hoque and Honufa Akter Rikta, reacted on Friday,
It took place at the LD Hall-2 of Parliament complex in Dhaka. The area from Monipuri Parha gate to LD Hall was illuminated.
The 67-year-old minister, clad in black suit, received the guests near the main gate of the hall.
Many, however, faced embarrassment as they were not allowed to get in for not carrying letters of invitation with them.
Elegantly dressed, Rikta arrived at the venue at around 7:30pm.
Awami League Central Executive Committee Vice-President Abul Hossain, who was responsible for attending to the guests, said a huge quantity of food was prepared to ensure nobody go back without treat.
Organisers said they arranged food for around 20,000 guests.
Six gift counters were set up in the venue. Several gift boxes were seen there until 8pm.
Close-circuit cameras were installed in the entire hall area to ensure no unpleasant incidents happened.
During the wedding on Oct 31 at Mirakhali village in Comilla, valuables of more than 100 guests were stolen.
