BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has offered a dialogue between her party’s acting secretary general and the Awami League general secretary on a non-party neutral government to conduct the next general election.
“Future development of political situation will depend on the actions of the government. We are ready to sit for a dialogue with the government on holding election under a non-party neutral government,” she said.
“BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam could be the representatives from both sides,” she was quoted as saying in a meeting with the Chinese ambassador in Dhaka on Monday.
During the meeting with Khaleda at her Gulshan office in the evening, Li Jun said as a friend to Bangladesh, China expresses its concern on the current political stalemate in Bangladesh.
China which usually refrains from making any political statement on the internal issues of another country has started making remarks on the political affairs of Bangladesh since August 21.
