The fan of Mashrafe was freed from Mirpur Police Station on Sunday, a day after the match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The security personnel detained him on the field after the hug and later, three of his friends.

They were released around 9pm as police found no ill-intention during the questioning, Sub-Inspector Abu Zafar told bdnews24.com.

Earlier, DMP Deputy Commissioner Masud Ahmed said the youth entered the field ‘out of curiosity’ and embraced Mashrafe.

“Nothing suspicious in his behaviour was found,” he said.

Bangladesh Cricket Board investigators have found that a member of the board’s Logistics Committee brought the youth to the Grand Stand though he had bought a Tk 100 gallery ticket.

Now the member of the committee is on the run, BCB officials said.

The BCB, however, is not considering the matter as ‘something big’ for now, even though there are concerns over security in the upcoming series against England who have already arrived in Dhaka.

BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said action would be taken over the matter after investigation.
