A senior BNP leader on Friday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Home Minister M K Alamgir will have to take responsibility for the death of Old Dhaka youth Biswajit Das.
“Armed cadres of the pro-government student front Bangladesh Chhatra League killed Biswajit following directives from the Home Minister’s. So, he along with the Prime Minister will be tried one day as they will have to take the responsibility for the killing,” M K Anwar told a discussion ahead of the Victory Day to be celebrated on Dec 16.
He also alleged the Home Minster was confusing people over the killing of Biswajit.
Biswajit Das, who ran a tailor shop, was beaten and hacked to death during the 18-Party Alliance’s road blockade programme across Bangladesh on Dec 9.
Reports and footages run in the media identified the assailants as pro-government Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)’s Jagannath University unit activists.
However, the ruling Awami League has been claiming those involved were ‘intruders’ to their student front.
Over the recent Hall-Mark scam and alleged corruption in the Padma bridge project, M K Anwar said, “The government is submerged in corruption.”
He also alleged the Anti-Corruption Commission was unwilling to take legal action against former Communication Minister Syed Abul Hossain.
Speaking at the programme, BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah demanded release of party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Police arrested the BNP Spokesman from in front of the party’s headquarters at Naya Paltan in the city on Monday evening, a day after a case was filed against him and several other opposition leaders over Sunday’s violence in the capital during the nationwide road blockade programme called by the BNP-led 18-Party Alliance.
