Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday emphasised further strengthening regional cooperation and connectivity in the South Asian region saying that it would improve the socioeconomic conditions of its people.
The Prime Minister came up with the views when visiting Indian Minister for Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan met her at her official residence Gonobhaban.
After the meeting, Prime Minister’s deputy press secretary Bijan Lal Dev briefed reporters about the meeting.
Hasina said Bangladesh and India can cooperate with each other more for further development of social and economic sectors of both the countries for mutual benefits.
In this regard, the Prime Minister mentioned Bangladesh’s macroeconomic stability and said her government has been able to maintain over 6 percent GDP growth in the country for the last four and half years.
The Indian Minister highly appreciated Bangladesh’s achievement under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina saying the government changed the whole things of the economy and maintained better growth rate than India.
Rahman Khan also briefed the Prime Minister about various schemes of his government implemented for the development of minorities, particularly in bringing them out of backwardness through education and healthcare.
Ambassador-At-Large M Ziauddin was present at the meeting.
