As the Sunday evening ceremony was on, with the guests posing for photo, our UK Correspondent Syed Nahas Pasha sent exclusive pictures and video of the bride and the groom dressed in traditional Bengali wedding attire and flanked by Hasina, Sheikh Rehana and their children.

The wedding reception is being held at Impression Event venue at West Ham in East London. Hasina’s son Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed and his wife, Christine, flew in from the United States to attend the ceremony. Tulip’s brother Redwan Mujib Siddique Bobby, his wifeand her younger sister were also there.

The other guests included MPs and former British ministers such as Keith Vaz, Frank Dobson, Jim Fitzpatrick, Stephen Timms, Lynne Brown, Jermey Corbyn and Emily Thornberry.

Many fellow councillors from Tulip’s borough Camden were also present, so were leaders of Bangaldeshi community and Awami League.

The BNP’s UK activists demonstrated outside the venue before Hasina arrived. Police deployed in large numbers kept them away.

Last month, Tulip, who turns 31 this September, had given just one name for her husband, Chris, who studied at the Cambridge University before joining the civil service.

She studied English literature for her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at the University College of London. She did a second second Master’s in Politics, Policy and Government before pursuing a career in British politics.

  1. I was looking for Dr Shafiq Siddique, the father of the bride (and husband of Sheikh Rehana) in the picture, but could not locate him. Does anybody know if he was invited or allowed to attend the ceremony? Or, have I missed something?
It would have been great if Dr Siddique were seen blessing his daughter on this wonderful occasion. Anyway, our best wishes for Tulip and her husband on this day. We wish them a long and happy life together.
