Accusing the government of trying to cling to power through resorting to killings and abductions, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said people are counting days to get rid of the ‘barbaric rule’ of Awami League.
“The country’s people have got fed up at the barbaric rule of Awami League. They’re now counting for the moment when they will be freed from the grasp of Awami League,” he said in a statement.
The BNP spokesman issued the statement protesting and condemning the killing of Laxmipur Sadar upazila Jubo Dal leader Ripon Hossain.
Unknown assailants shot Ripon to death at Karaitala in Laxmipur Sadar upazila early Friday.
Fakhrul said the killing of Ripon is part of the current ‘illegal government’s’ continued cruel and barbaric misdeeds.
He said the ‘illegal Awami League regime’ has turned the entire country into a death valley since it assumed office by force. “The security of people and their property is now in jeopardy.”
The BNP leader demanded the government immediately arrest the killers of Ripon and mete out exemplary punishment to them.
