Customs officials and Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have arrested a Pakistani citizen with fake Indian currencies worth about TK one crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

The arrestee is Mohammad Haris Uddin, 39.

APBn senior ASP Alamgir Hossain Shimul confirmed the arrest on Friday afternoon.

He said the arrestee had arrived here by a flight of Sri Lanka Airlines (MG 501) from Colombo on September 7 and left his luggage.

“Since then the luggage, containing the above mentioned fake Indian currencies, have been deposited at the “Left Luggage Section” at the airport.

Customs officials seized the currencies after scanning the luggage and arrested him,” he added.

A custom official lodged a case with Airport Police Station in this connection.
