An Anti Corruption Commission team will go to Canada again to collect more information regarding the much-talked-about Padma Bridge graft.
“Earlier, a case on Padma Bridge graft was filed in Canada. Its hearing will be held in a Canadian Court on September 9 next. We’re taking necessary preparations so that our team can be present during the hearing in Canadian Court,” ACC chairman M Badiuzzaman told reporters at Commission’s head office here on Sunday.
He hoped that the ACC team may fly to Canada in early September.
A two-member ACC team had been in Canada in May this year to collect information on alleged graft over the appointment of consultant for the Padma Bridge project. The team members were ACC legal adviser Advocate Anisul Haque and its deputy director and inquiry officer Mirza Zahidul Alam.
About the two much-hyped swindling cases, Sonali Bank loan scam and Destiny swindling cases, the ACC chairman said he asked the ACC investigators to submit their investigation reports on the two cases to the commission within a month. “I hope they’ll submit their reports within the time.”
Asked why the Commission is taking time in approving a report to file cases on the BTCL graft, he said, “This is a highly technical issue. So we’re taking time.”
