Over 300 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance were arrested at different places across the country in separate drives of the joint forces from Saturday night to Sunday morning.
Of them, a staggering number of 102 opposition men were arrested in Khulna.
The arrests were made from different areas in the city and nine upazilas of the district.
Khulna police control room sources said police arrested 35 opposition activists after launching drives at different parts of the city for their alleged involvement in subversive activities.
Meanwhile, 67 other opposition activists were arrested from nine upazilas of the district during the drive.
In the capital, police arrested BNP leader Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Inam Ahmed Chowdhury.
The law enforcers also arrested three leaders of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal, women wing of the BNP, and five leaders and activists of Jamaat.
The remaining arrests were made in Magura, Chittagong, Chapainawabganj, Moulvibazar, Sirajganj, Narayanganj, Natore, Noakhali and Rajshahi.
