The Rajshahi University graduate level courses in the D unit (Business Studies Faculty) for the 2016-2017 semester has 91 seats allotted for students from science and humanities groups. However, only 19 students have passed the admission test for the seats.
Out of a total of 520 seats, the D unit has allotted 429 seats for students from business group of higher secondary level, and 91 seats for students from other groups. In the admission test, 872 students from business group passed while only 19 passed from other groups. This was revealed in the result published on Thursday of the exam held back on 24 October.
BBA first year admission exam committee member Amjad Hossain told Prothom Alo that almost four thousand students outside the business group attempted the admission test. They had to score at least 40 marks to pass. Other than the 19 students, everyone scored below 40, while the highest mark scored by the non-business students was 48.13, he said.
When asked about how the university would fill in the remaining seats allotted to non-business students, Amjad Hossain said, “A decision has not been made yet. We might reduce the required pass mark or we might fill the empty seats with business students.”
