A Dhaka court on Sunday rejected a petition seeking bail for Oishee Rahman arrested in connection with the killing of her parents.

Judge Anwar Sadat of the Juvenile Court also turned down two other petitions of the teenage girl.

Oishee’s lawyers submitted four petitions before the court, seeking her bail, arranging better treatment, visiting the place of occurrence by the investigation officer of the case in the presence of her counsels and holding the trial in the juvenile court.

After hearing, the court rejected the former three petitions. However, it did not pass any order regarding the other petition as the actual age of Oishee is yet to be known.

About the bail rejection, the court said, “Oishee confessed before the court that she killed her parents knowingly. For this, her bail prayer has been rejected at this moment.”

The judge also dismissed the plea of giving the teenage girl proper treatment, saying no medical certificate in support of Oishee’s mental illness was submitted to the court.

Oishee’s lawyer Advocate Prokash Biswas submitted a petition to the court seeking its order to form a medical board for providing treatment to the underage girl, saying Oishee is mentally ill and was forced to give confessional statement.

Jatiya Mahila Ainjibi Samity director (legal section) Rehana Akter also stood for Oishee.

On August 16, police recovered the bodies of Special Branch of police Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence.

Later, Oishee surrendered to the police confessing to the killing.
