Obstacles to JS polls to be resisted at any cost: MKA

Home Minster MK Alamgir on Thursday warned that any obstacles towards the next general election would be resisted by using all-out strength of the state machinery.

“If any persons or quarters say they will create hindrance to election, we will resist them with all-out strength of the state,” said the minister.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the headquarters of Rapid Action Battalion-7 at Patenga in the port city of Chittagong.

Few exponents of autocratic forces of Bangladesh, under the cover of political parties, have been calling for creating resistance to the election, he alleged.

He urged all to remain cautious in a bid to protect the democracy of the country, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

At the programme, Environment and Forests Minister Hasan Mahmud stated it is being said that an anarchic situation would be created in Bangladesh after October 25.

Pointing to that people, he said this government would not transform into an interim administration after October 25.

“This government will function with full capacity until the declaration of election schedule,” he said.

After the pronouncement of the schedule, none would be allowed to create an anarchic situation in the country, Hasan Mahmud further said.

Chaired by Commander M Sahed Karim, commanding officer of Rab-7, law maker MA Latif and Rab’s Director General Md Mukhlesur Rahman also spoke at the ceremony.
