Police have arrested the so-called girlfriend of Nur Hossain, the prime suspect in Narayanganj multiple murders, in another case of murder.
Jannatul Ferdous Neela was arrested on Sunday night from her Siddhirganj house.
That followed confessinal statement of two persons nabbed in a murder case last year, Siddhirganj Police Station OC Md Alauddin said.
Police arrested Sohag and Mona for the murder.
The two said Ferdous was involved in the killing.
“Neela was arrested from her house last night (Sunday) after they revealed her involvement in the murder,” Alauddin said on Monday.
Police produced Ferdous in a magistrate’s court in Narayanganj on Monday afternoon.
Magistrate Jabir Hossain granted police three days to interrogate her.
Earlier Ferdous, a Narayanganj reserved seat councillor, was being questioned by a committee formed to probe the multiple murders in the town.
She is a suppporter of ruling Awami League (AL).
Nur Hossain was also vice president of AL’s Siddhirganj Thana unit. He was expelled from the party after he was accused in the murder case.
Nur Hossain has been fugitive since bodies of seven people including Councillor Nazrul Islam were recovered from the Sitalakhyya River.
RAB says Nur Hossain has fled to Kolkata and has sought Interpole’s assistance to nab him.
