Forty people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This is the highest number of daily deaths due to Covid-19 since May 12, 2021.

With this the total number of deaths reached 12,441 and death rate stands at 1.57 percent.
At least 1,675 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,92,196, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 10.08 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.53 percent.
A total of 16,624 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 1,279 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,32,810 and the recovery rate at 92.50 percent.
Among the 40 deceased, 26 were men and 14 women. Of them two were between 21-30 years old, five within 31-40; four between 41-50; 12 within 51-60 and 17 were above 60 years old, added the release.
