Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Tuesday urged all the political parties and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to keep the country’s commercial hub Motijheel free from all types of rally and procession for smooth business operation.
“The central bank is one of the key point installations (KPIs)…such programmes shouldn’t take place around it. That’s why the central bank is making the call,” BB assistant spokesperson AFM Asaduzzaman told UNB over phone.
He said they have already verbally informed the authorities concerned so that no such programme is taken place in Motijheel area. “We’ll formally write to the ministries concerned and DMP through the Finance Ministry.”
The central bank official said letters would be written to the Dhaka City Corporation and the DMP so that they do not give permission to hold any rally or procession in Motijheel area.
