Calling upon the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-Jamaat nexus to refrain from destructive acts including burning people and unleashing vandalism, prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said there is no mercy to those who will play ducks and drakes with the lot of the people.
‘I would like to urge the BNP-Jamaat to refrain from burning and killing people. They have no rights to burn or kill the people….why they will burn or kill the people by hurling petrol bombs or cocktails?,’ she posed a question.
Citing the plight of Secondary School Certificate examinee Minhajul Islam Anik, who lost one eye in a bomb explosion in Feni on January 5 during the BNP-Jamaat blockade, the prime minister said there is no mercy to those who will play with the fate of the people, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
‘I hope such tragic incident won’t happen again. If it reoccurs, we won’t spare the culprits. They must be punished,’ she said.
Sheikh Hasina came up with the warning after receiving the results of this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations at her official Ganabhaban residence here this morning.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid formally handed over the SSC and equivalent exam results to the PM at a simple ceremony.
