BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed said there would be no extrajudicial killings in the country if his party voted to power.

“People are being killed and abducted as there is no accountability of the government to the countrymen,” he said.

“None would be victim of abduction, none would be killed and none would be detained without any trial when BNP voted to power.”

Addressing a discussion at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh organised by the party, the BNP leader said: “If we believe in rule of law then these should be stopped; otherwise, people will condemn us.”

The extrajudicial killings received huge criticism when BNP-led four party alliance was in office and formed the crime busting elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Awami League, in their election manifesto, said that they (AL) will stop extrajudicial killing if they voted to power, Modud said adding that but they have forgotten the pledges after assuming the office.

The BNP leader claimed that militancy and extremism flourished in the country as the government was not elected by the people.

“Establishing a representative government through a free, fair and neutral election can end the situation.”

Moudud said his party hates militancy and extremism and alleged that conspiracy is going on to brand BNP as an extremist party.
