Bangladesh and Pakistan have summoned each other’s envoys over the reaction of the execution of war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami.
At first, Pakistan summoned Bangladesh acting High Commission Nazmul Huda and handed over its resolution expressing concern over the execution.
Hours after Mizanur Rahman, secretary (bilateral) at Bangladesh’s foreign ministry, summoned Pakistan envoy Shuja Alam at his office at 5:00pm.
Earlier on Monday, Dhaka told Pakistan to stop interfering in Bangladesh’s internal affairs.
Pakistan parliament also condemned the war crimes trial in Bangladesh and mourned the execution of Nizami.
Its foreign ministry on Wednesday issued a statement stating Pakistan was deeply saddened over the hanging of the Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Mr. Moti-ur-Rehman Nizami.
Motiur Rahman Nizami, the ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, was hanged on early hours of Wednesday (May 11) for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971.
