After hearing his statement, the court sent him to jail, says the District Lawyers’ Association president
Ex-RAB officer Arif Hossain has confessed his involvement in the killing of seven people including the district panel Mayor Nazrul Islam in Naraynganj.
He confessed his involvement in the killings in a statement given before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin in the afternoon, said Sakhawat Hossain, president of the Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association.
In May, former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officer Major Arif, along with two more RAB officers, was sent to retirement for his alleged involvement in the Narayanganj killings.
Sakhawat said: “Arif has given his confessional statement before the court, admitting his involvement with Nazrul Islam and Chandan Sarkar’s killings.”
“He described many things regarding the murder incident before the court. After hearing his statement, the court sent him to jail,” added the District Lawyers’ Association president.
