The newly elected MPs for the 10th Parliament will take oath on Thursday.
The ceremony, in Parliament, will start at 10am, Joynal Abedin, PR chief of the Parliament Secretariat told bdnews24.com.
According to the Constitution, Speaker of the House Shirin Sharmin Choudhury will administer the oath to the MPs.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Election Commission (EC) released the gazette for the lawmakers who had been elected in Sunday’s polls.
According to regulations, MPs have to take their oath within three days of the gazette being released.
The Parliament is supposed to start its session within 30 days of oath-taking.
In the 10th National Election, candidates in 153 constituencies out of the 300 had been elected without a contest. Sunday’s poll elected lawmakers from 139 constituencies.
Re-polling in the remaining eight will be held on Jan 16.
The EC has published the gazette for 290 newly elected MPs. It had left out Sheikh Afiluddin of Jessore-1 and Manirul Islam of Jessore-2, both facing allegations of breaching the electoral code of conduct.
According to the gazette, Awami League has 229 MPs in the 10th Parliament, Jatiya Party 33, Workers’ Party of Bangladesh 6, JaSad 5, independent 14, and one each of Twarikat Federation, BNF and JP (Monju).
