BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has said the party is ready to hold dialogue but the agenda should be the non-partisan interim government.

The BNP leader made the statement after placing wreaths at the party founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave in the capital on Friday afternoon.

Nazrul said: “If the government does not take any initiative to resolve the crisis through talks then people will go for tough movements under the leadership of party chairperson Khaleda Zia.”

Attending a discussion at National Press Club, another standing committee member of the party Rafiqul Islam Miah said democracy does not run by the writ petition rather it requires people’s mandate.

Miah also said BNP came to power three times taking the mandate of the people.

“BNP will come to power again by taking the mandate of the people, and BNP does not believe in possessing power through the back door,” he said.

The BNP leader also said such an opposition party has come to the parliament who is always eager to please the government and does not criticise the government in fear of losing posts in the cabinet.
