Twenty-nine artistes and film professionals have received the National Film Award, 2014 in 26 categories for their outstanding contributions to the film industry.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally handed over the awards on Wednesday to the recipients at a ceremony held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the afternoon.
Chaired by Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, the function was also addressed by Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on Information Ministry AKM Rahmatullah.
Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed delivered the address of welcome.
Eminent actor Syed Hasan Imam and actress Rani Sarkar received the lifetime achievement awards.
‘Nekabbarer Mahaproyan’ produced by Masud Pathik received the best film award while Ashraful Alam alias Ashraf Shishir’s Gariwala’ received the best short film award.
Other than them Zahidur Rahman Anjan received the best director award for ‘Meghmallar’ film.
Ferdous Ahmed (Ek Cup Cha) received the best actor award (in leading character) while Moushumi (Tarkata) and Bidya Sinha Mim (Jonakir Alo) jointly received the best actress awards (main characters).
Moreover, ‘Gariwala’ produced by Mohammad Ashraful Alam alias Ashraf Monir received the best documentary award.
The other awardees are best director- Jahidur Rahman Anjan (for Meghmallar), best side actor – Ezaz Islam (for Tarkata), best side actress – Chitra Lekha Guho (for Ekattorer Ma Jononi), best villain- Tariq Anam (for Desha the leader), best comedy actor – Misha Sawdgor (Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo), best child actor – Abir Hossain Angkon (Baishamya), best child actress (special award) – Marzan Hossain Jara (Meghmallar), best music director – Saim Rana (Nekkabarer Mahaproyan), best singer male – Mahfuz Anam James (Desha the leader), best singer female – Runa Laila (Priya Tumi Sukhi Hou) and Momtaz (Nekkabarer Mahaproyan), best composer – Masud Pathik (Nekkabarer Mahaproyan), best lyricist – Belal Khan (Nekkabarer Mahaproyan), best storywriter – Akhtaruzzaman Ilias (Meghmallar), best cinematography – Saikat Nasir (Desha the Leader), best dialogue – Zahidur Rahman Anjan (Meghmallar), best editor – Towhid Hossain Chowdhury (Desha the leader), best art director – Maruf Samurai (Tarkata), best photographer – Mohammad Hossain Jemy (Baishamya), best sound recording – Ratan Pal (Meghmallar), best costume and decoration – Kanak Chanpa Chakma (Jonakir Alo) and best makeup man – Andur Rahman (Nekkabarer Mahaproyan).
Later, Syed Hasan Imam shared his feelings over the ceremony to the audience.
