Leaders of Nagarik Oikya, a civic rights body, on Wednesday called on the government to take steps to resolve the current crisis of the country.
Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna said the country was going through a serious political crisis and the people remained amid uncertainties for a month.
He called on prime minister Sheikh Hasina to convene national dialogue immediately to resolve the crisis.
He also called on the BNP-led alliance to stop anarchies and arsons in the name of blockade and hartal immediately.
Manna also called on the ruling Awami League to face the current crisis politically as it would not come under control through applying forces.
He was addressing the token sit-in of Nagarik Chhatra Oikya, the student front of the organisation, in front of National Press Club.
Nagarik Chhatra Oikya organised the seven-hour sit-in to press their demand for ending the current political crisis immediately.
The body will hold countrywide sit-in in demand of resolution of crisis, Manna said.
Chaired by convener of the student organisation Nazmul Ahsan, the rally was addressed, among others, by Abu Bakar Siddiqui and Ifterkher Ahmed Babu and central leaders of Nagarik Oikya.
