Independent TV has filed an attempt-to-murder case against Awami League MP Golam Maula Rony for assaulting two journalists in his office.
The private television channel’s Assistant Manager Yunus Ali filed the case on Saturday evening accusing the ruling party MP, along with 20 to 25 unidentified attackers, of murderous assault on the journalists.
Shahbagh Police station OC Shirajul Islam told bdnews24.com, “A case has been filed against MP Golam Maula levelling several charges.”
The case includes charges of attempt to murder, assault and vandalism.
Earlier, the MP had apologised for assaulting TV journalists Imtiaz Momin Sony and cameraman Mohsin Mukul, who had went to his Meherba Plaza office at Topkhana Road on Saturday to interview him for the channel’s crime-based programme Talash.
