After Sutan Muhammed Mansur Ahmed, the other Gono Forum MP-elect Mukabbir Khan is going to take oath in parliament on Tuesday.
Mukabbir, who won the Sylhet-2 parliamentary seat in the general election, has written to Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudury for administering his oath of office as a member of parliament.
He faxed a letter wishing to be sworn in on Tuesday or Wednesday, Parliament Secretary Zafar Ahmed said on Monday.
Later, the Parliament Secretariat said the swearing-in ceremony of Mukabbir, who was elected as a Jatiya Oikya Front candidate in the Dec 30 polls, will be held at 12pm on Tuesday.
Mukabbir along with Sultan Mansur from Moulvibazar-2 had earlier written to the speaker about their readiness to take oath.
Mansur took oath as scheduled on Mar 7 but Mukabbir had backtracked on his decision, saying he would take oath after discussions with his party.Later, Gono Forum expelled Mansur.
It also denied giving Mukabbir the permission to take oath.
In a letter on the official pad of the party, Mukabbir said he and his party decided that he would take oath.
“I followed the party decision to write the letter seeking to take oath,” he told bdnews24.com.
But Gono Forum General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu said no such decision was taken in the party forum.
“It’s not right if he said it was a party decision,” Montu said.
