Armed muggers snatched Tk10.80 lakh by shooting a money exchange trader at Mirpur-10 in the capital on Thursday night.
The victim identified as Sharif Nasir Hossain, 28, is a resident of Janata Housing. He runs a money exchange business at Mirpur-10.
Quoting the victim, SM Mizan, sub-inspector of Mirpur police station said a gang of muggers riding two motorbikes stopped Nasir when he reached Janata Housing area at about 7:55pm. Brandishing guns they tried to take a bag full of money.
They fired several gunshots targeting Nasir’s legs as he tried to resist them. They were finally able to snatch Tk10.80 lakh and flee the scene leaving him in a pool of blood. The victim was immediately rushed to Delta Medical Hospital at Mirpur and was later shifted to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.
A case was filed in this connection with Mirpur police station. No one was arrested in this connection till yesterday evening.
