Earlier today, deputy inspector general of Rangpur Range Khandaker Golam Faruk said Abdul Quader Khan was the mastermind of the murder of Manjurul Islam Liton, reports United News of Bangladesh.

Quader Khan planned to kill Liton to become MP of Gaibandha-1 again, the DIG told reporters at a press conference at Gaibandha police superintendent’s office.

‘Quader assassinated Liton through hiring hitmen,’ Golam Faruk said.

Detectives arrested Abdul Quader Khan, former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, from his residence at Rahman Nagar Ziladarpara in Bogra town on Tuesday.

The DIG said that the former lawmaker would be produced before a Gaibandha court today seeking a 10-day remand for interrogation.
