Duta wants attackers of teachers punished

Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (Duta) demanded exemplary punishment of those who were involved in the attack on the university teachers at Kadam Foara near the High Court in the capital on Sunday.

The association placed the demand at its emergency meeting chaired by its president Prof Farid Uddin Ahmad at the University Club on Sunday afternoon, said a press release signed by its general secretary Dr Mamum Ahmed on Monday.

The association strongly condemned and protested the attack on the pro-BNP teachers.

“The Duta strongly condemn and protest the heinous attack on peaceful procession of the teachers by some armed terrorists in presence of the law enforcers,” it says.

The Duta decided to form a human chain on the premises of Aparajeya Bangla in front of the Arts Building of the university on January 1 protesting the attack.
