US Ambassador Dan Mozena narrowly escaped a road accident on Friday, as his car lost control and slid a bit over a bend on a village road in the district.
The incident took place near Jalpaitala Bazar at Lohadi village in Kapasia upazila. The US envoy was on a visit to the village to observe the activities of a US-based solar power company which is functioning in the area.
The car driver had luckily been able to stop the vehicle from falling into a 20-foot roadside ditch.
Both wheels on the right side of the car were stuck into a crater on the roadside. No one inside the car was hurt by the incident.
The police recovered the car with the help of locals.
Mozena reached Lohadi village, which is about one km away from the spot of the accident, on foot and saw the progress of the solar power project.
Later, he went to adjacent Barisab union parishad and talked to the officials and representatives.
Rural Development and Cooperative Division Secretary MA Quader Sarkar and Kapazila UNO Alauddin Ali accompanied the US envoy at that time.
