Elections to four city corporations — Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet — will be held on June 15.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the schedule at his Election Commission (EC) secretariat office in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Monday.
As per the schedule, the last date for submitting nomination papers is May 12 and the last date of withdrawal of nominations papers is May 26.
The nominations papers will be scrutinised on May 15 and 16.
The CEC said they will use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in a general ward of each of the city corporations during the polls.
The four city corporations went to polls the last time on August 8, 2008.
Besides, the election schedule for the newly-formed Gazipur city corporation may be announced any day, said election commissioner M Shah Nawaz.
