The foreign diplomat paid a sudden visit to the mist-lapped campus at around 7:30pm without informing the university authorities about his sudden visit.
Having taken a tour of wildlife care centres and main water bodies in the university campus, he returned to Dhaka at around 11 am after a delightful rendezvous with the migratory birds and enjoying the red water lilies in full bloom.
He went effusive while having a close look at whistling ducks and other migratory birds flipping and flapping their wings and was heard exclaiming: “Wow! Awesome!”
Some students greeted him with roses. He joined all on tea at makeshift shops on the transport square of the campus before starting for Dhaka.
Prof Mostofa Firoz, a professor at the university’s Department of Zoology, who is also an ornithologist, accompanied the US envoy in watching birds by the lake.

The US envoy though was seen exchanging pleasantries during birds sighting and sipping tea, he remained tight-lipped before journalists.
