The Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Thursday said that the ongoing movement of her party to restore democracy, people’s basic rights and right to franchise would continue until it reaches its goal.
The BNP chief made the vow in a statement issued on Thursday.
Khaleda Zia said the government was out to isolate her from the people and party activists by creating insecure situation and putting pressure from all directions.
‘I want to make it clear that I will not bow down to any unethical pressure or threats by the grace of Allah. I am ready to face any situation or embrace any consequence,’ said Khaleda.
The BNP chief said for the past one year they had called for a peaceful resolution to the crisis through discussion for holding a fare election but the government declined to reach any understanding to protract their illegal stay in power.
‘They are even not ready to recognise any political stalemate and believe in containing people through state-sponsored violence and terror. We have our backs against the wall. No option has been left for the people but waging movement,’ she said.
