BNP’s movement was successful as 95% of the people did not go to the polling centers to cast their votes, BNP Standing Committee Member Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain has claimed.
The BNP leader made the claim while addressing a discussion at National Press Club on Saturday afternoon.
“The election was not acceptable nationally and internationally. BNP’s movement was fully successful,” said Mosharraf.
He alleged: “The Awami League has killed democracy and now they are trying to establish one-party rule system in the country.”
Mosharraf called upon the party leaders and activists to join the movement to free the country from the clutches of Baksal.
“None of those who were elected and sworn in could say how many votes they got,” he claimed.
Terming the elections “stigmatised”, Mosharraf said Bangladesh never witnessed such a “farcical” election and this parliament is an unprecendented “stigmatised parliament” in the history of the country.
He said: “This election proved that our demand of election under a non-partisan government was correct and logical.”
