Mohammad Shahjahan Khan, involved in shipping and real estate business, has been elected as new President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) for the year 2014.
Osama Taseer has been elected as Senior Vice President and Kh. Shahidul Islam elected as Vice President of DCCI for the year.
The new Board of Directors took over charge at the 52nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of DCCI held at its auditorium on Wednesday, said a press release.
The newly elected Directors for the term 2014-16 are Sameer Sattar, AKD Khair Mohammad Khan, KG Karim, Mukter Hossain Chowdhury and S Rumi Saifullah.
Newly elected DCCI president Mohammad Shahjahan Khan is mainly a businessman engaged in the shipping and real estate sectors for long. He is a former General Manager of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
The release said that M Shahjahan Khan is the Managing Director of S.S. Shipping and Trading Ltd. and S.S. Shipping and Chartering Ltd. He is also the Chairman of S.S. Builders Ltd. and Fatema Real Estate and Developers Ltd.
M Shahjahan Khan was the Senior Vice President of DCCI during the years 2007 and 2010. Besides, he is the Senior Vice President of Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the term 2013-14 and Vice President of Barisal Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the term 2013-14.
Osama Taseer is an entrepreneur in the export oriented readymade garment industry of Bangladesh. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Aligarh M. University in India. He is engaged in manufacturing mainly woven garments for the global brands in EU, North America, Australia, Japan and Turkey since 1992.
Taseer was elected to the Board of Directors of the BGMEA for the term 2007-2008. He was also the elected Secretary General of the bilateral chamber DBCCI in 2009-2010. He is a Life Member of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
Kh. Shahidul Islam, the newly elected Vice-President of DCCI is the owner of Dhaka Diesel & Machineries. He is also the CEO of M/S. Mahabuba Khandaker. He was also former Director and Vice-President of DCCI. He is a former Vice-President of Bangladesh Hardware & Machinery Merchants Association (Dhaka Circle) and President of Green Corner Welfare Association (Green Road).
