The government’s ties with India will not be affected if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has hinted.
“It does not matter who comes to power in India. Bangladesh’s relation with the incumbent government will not be affected,” he said in Sylhet on Thursday.
The comments came in view of that Narendra Modi is forming a new government in India replacing the two-time rule of the Congress, according to reports.
Narendra Modi himself recently warned that “illegal Bangladeshi migrants” in India will be “sent packing back to their place of origin after May 16.”
The communications minister made the comment while visiting the under-construction Kazir Bazar bridge on the Surma river in the morning.
In response to queries on who is to be held responsible for the latest incidents throughout the country, the minister said “it is not yet clear.”
“But, a vested quarter is trying to create a situation in the country similar to pre-1975 period.”
However, the minister did not clarify any further.
The country saw a spate of abductions and killings in recent times coupled with allegations of its involvement with elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
