A madrasah was burned to ashes at Balua Chowmuhani in Sadar upazila as miscreants set it on fire on Wednesday night.
Locals said some miscreants torched the tin-roofed building of Al-Hera Dakhil Madrasah around 8:45pm. Soon, the fire engulfed the whole madrasah.
Although locals doused the flame at about 9:20pm, the whole madrasah and two motorcycles kept on its premises were reduced to ashes, said Shahidul Haque, president of the madrasah governing body.
He alleged that local Awami League activists torched the madrasah.
However, sub-inspector of Feni Model Police Station Kamal Hossain said unidentified miscreants set fire to the madrasah.
He also said they would investigate the incident.
