Law Minister Anisul Haque has alluded to the BNP’s acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir being an ‘idiot’ for comparing the government with Israel.
“There are some idiots in our country. I saw in the newspapers today that one idiot has said the Awami League government was worse than Israel,” the minister said without taking names.

He was speaking at a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishad, a forum of pro-Awami League lawyers, in Dhaka on Wednesday.
He said this person did not go and see Israel in his life. If (he) had gone to Gaza, he would have seen the cruel situation there, Haque added.
“If he had seen that, a person such as him wouldn’t have said something like this like an idiot.”
BNP spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul on Tuesday alleged that the Awami League-led government has resorted to ‘Israeli tactics of torture’.
“The government is brutally killing and torturing opposition leaders and activists in the same way (Israelis) are murdering the Palestinians,” he said.
