Police have declared bounty of hundreds of thousands of taka for those involved with Friday’s violence in Dhaka after the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla, a war crimes convict.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman said they had collected pictures of the most of the accused.
“We have sought assistance from the people to catch them,” he said speaking to bdnews24.com on Sunday.
“Tk 100,000 will be given for each of them,” Rahman said.
Jamaat activists ran wild in Dhaka to protest the execution of their leader Molla. At least 15 vehicles were torched and many more damaged.
Several people, including children, were injured.
Police collected video footages and still pictures of the attacks and had conducted raids.
The police spokesperson said posters had been printed with pictures of those they could collect. “Identity of the informants will not be disclosed,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Rahman said the Dhaka City police had decided to run widespread campaigns to highlight the attackers’ pictures and the bounty.
