Learn from history: Salahuddin

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed has advised prime minister Sheikh Hasina to learn from history, particularly from her father’s “grim end”.

He made the remark in a statement on Wednesday.

“Learn from history. Analyze the reasons of (your) father’s grim end. Stop mass killing,” Salahuddin urged the prime minister.

He also called for general elections under a non-partisan government and immediate resignation of the PM.

“Only then the people will consider your resignation with sympathy,” he added.

Addressing Sheikh Hasina, Salauddin said, “Your father killed 30,000 freedom fighters by creating a rakkhi bahini. He introduced the trend of political murder by killing numerous leaders of the opposition party.”

“(Bangabandhu) Sheikh Mujibur Rahman could not save himself even after abolishing Awami League and introducing one-party politics in the form of Bakshal,” he alleged.

He accused the prime minister of politicizing the police, RAB and BGB forces and giving them order to kill people in order to stop the BNP alliance’s ongoing democratic movement. By doing so, the PM has arranged “the funeral of democracy”, he said.

He claimed that the government has been trying to portray BNP-led alliance’s democratic movement as violent and terrorist activities.

AL leaders and activists are the ones engaged in all these petrol bomb attacks, he alleged.
